Every construction project is different, but for all projects, it’s important to use quality materials, and to finish the job on time and under budget. And when it comes to materials, there’s a big difference between inexpensive and cheap.

National Custom Hollow Metal is Arkansas’ leading custom steel door and frame specialist, and we’re ready to build the doors and frames that you need to your specifications, and on your schedule. At NCHM, fast is standard on all of our orders, and some doors and frames can be manufactured and delivered as quickly as one business day. Here are a few things to keep in mind when selecting the right custom metal door for your project:

  1. Building codes and labeling requirements-Fire protection labeling and corrosion resistance are common expectations when it comes to stainless steel doors and frames, but there may be additional labeling requirements, such as hurricane protection labeling in coastal regions. Be sure to do your research on local building codes, and let us know what safety labeling that you require. All doors and frames are all available with Warnock-Hersey or Underwriters Laboratories fire rating labels depending on the openings requirements.
  2. Materials-Our stainless steel (304 or 316 #4) and galvaneal doors are available in all standard sizes in 16-gauge, 14-gauge or12- gauge thickness. Doors can be custom built in any size up to 5′ x 12′ (SS 4’10” x 12” Outside Dimension) and 1-3/4,” with polystyrene, honeycomb and vertically stiffened cores available. And if you need lead radiation shielding for a medical lab, that is also available.
  3. Framing and Hardware-In order to get the maximum benefit of your custom stainless steel doors, they need to be properly framed, and outfitted with durable hardware. Our frames are available in any size up to 10′ x 12′ (OD without a splice) and are built to HMMA specifications. All frames have a minimum of three anchors per jamb, and we also mortise, reinforce, drill, and tap the frames for hardware.
