Kerf frames help to reduce thermal transfer and save businesses money!
Whenever an exterior door is opened, the temperature inside the building can drop very rapidly. This forces the building’s comfort systems to run longer, resulting in higher energy costs. And even if people entering and leaving the building are conscientious about closing the doors behind them quickly, it’s also common to feel drafts around windows and doors during the winter. The good news is that weatherstripping can help you lower your bills, and our team at National Custom Hollow Metal is ready to give you a quote for custom-built two-part kerf frames in two hours or less!
We’ve been manufacturing premium-quality stainless steel doors and frames for over 50 years, and all of our products are built right here in the USA. None of our products are mass-produced, and we’re ready to build your kerf frames to order from your choice of 16 or 14-gauge 304 or 316 stainless steel or A-60 or G-90 galvanneal steel. We most typically configure our kerf frames to fit 3068, 3070, or 3080 openings, and we can also manufacture frames in custom sizes to your specifications. The jambs are configured to a 5 ¼” minimum depth for a 1 ¾” door or a 4 ⅞” minimum depth for a 1 ⅜” door, up to a maximum depth of 20”, and the frames feature a 3/32” gap that holds our Elon 490 kerf foam weather stripping.
To ensure maximum effectiveness, your weatherstripping should be replaced every two or three years or when it no longer forms a tight seal around your doors. The weatherstripping can be installed and replaced in minutes without any tools, screws, or adhesives, and we’ll send automatic email reminders when it’s time to replace your weatherstripping!
Utilities are one of your most predictable expenses, and Kerf Frames are an excellent way to lower thermal transfer rates around exterior doors. We stand behind all NCHM orders with a one-year warranty and offer free Quik Ship Service. We also offer expedited shipping as needed for distributors with rapidly approaching deadlines.
