Worried about rising energy costs? NCHM sells Kerfed Frames!
During our most recent winter weather, we all learned that we have opportunities for improvement when it comes to preparing for extreme seasonal weather conditions. But the truth is that we don’t need to have a natural disaster or another emergency to remind us of the importance of energy efficiency. No one likes paying higher bills, but we all feel forced to grin and bear it if we want to stay comfortable. The good news is that there are some easy and inexpensive ways to lower our energy costs by simply making sure to seal up drafts around trouble areas such as windows and doors.
National Custom Hollow Metal has been providing premium quality stainless steel doors and frames to distributors for over 40 years, everything that you order is custom manufactured to your exact specifications. NCHM is proud to offer two part kerf frames with interchangeable weather-stripping built right here in the USA to the high standards that our distributors have insisted on for decades.
Our kerf frames are most typically configured to fit a 3068, 3070, or a 3080 opening, but can also be manufactured in custom sizes. The jambs are configured to a 5 ¼” minimum depth for a 1 ¾” door, or a 4 ⅞” minimum depth for a 1 ⅜” door, up to a maximum depth of 20”. Our kerf frames can be built from 16 or 14 gauge 304 or 316 Stainless steel or A-60 or G-90 Galvanneal Steel. The frames feature a 3/32” frame gap to receive Elon 490 kerf foam weather-stripping, which forms a tight seal around the door to prevent drafts.
Conventional adhesive or screw on weather stripping is effective if properly installed, but routine wear and tear reduces its effectiveness. The big advantage of the weather stripping on our Kerf frames is that it’s far more durable and easier to replace. Once it starts to wear out, give us a call, and we stock replacement weather stripping for sale and can ship it to you right away!
