Heat transfer occurs each time exterior doors are opened, forcing a building’s HVAC systems to work harder and run longer to maintain the desired indoor temperature. Even when people are careful to close doors quickly, drafty enclosures can significantly drive up energy costs. Kerf frames feature a 3/32” gap that holds our Elon 490 kerf foam weatherstripping that forms a tight seal around exterior doors, and it can be installed in minutes without any tools, screws, or adhesives. Your weatherstripping should be replaced every two or three years to ensure maximum effectiveness (or sooner if the door is opened and closed frequently), and we’ll send automatic email reminders when it’s time to place an order.
Like all of our products, our kerf frames are custom-built to order and backed by a one year warranty. We can manufacture kerf frames from your choice of 16 or 14-gauge 304 or 316 stainless steel or A-60 or G-90 galvanneal steel. We most typically configure our kerf frames to fit 3068, 3070, or 3080 openings, and we can also manufacture frames in custom sizes to your specifications. The jambs are configured to a 5 ¼” minimum depth for a 1 ¾” door or a 4 ⅞” minimum depth for a 1 ⅜” door, up to a maximum depth of 20.” All NCHM orders include Quik Ship service, with a standard turnaround time of one week for frames.
